This Christmas season, I want you to stop and take stock of how God has provided for you. It may not seem like He has, but I bet all your worries and concerns, though they still linger in the back of your minds, have been taken care of by our Father in Heaven.
Then Abraham looked up and saw a ram caught by its horns in a thicket. So he took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering in place of his son. Abraham named the place Yahweh-Yireh (which means “the Lord will provide”). To this day, people still use that name as a proverb: “On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.” (Genesis 22:13-14)
The phrase, “Jehovah Jireh” means “the Lord will provide.” Abraham uses it here in this passage. He was ready to sacrifice his son, but God stopped him and provided Abraham with a ram to sacrifice. This was an incredible blessing that stemmed from an impossible situation. He received what God provided because Abraham was willing to go in faith.
God is not one who asks us to do things if He will not provide the means to follow through. Have you ever stopped to think about how God provides for you and me on a daily basis? If you’re rushed and don’t stop and think about your life, you won’t really be able to take stock of how God has provided for you. But when you do stop and think about it, you realize that there are an infinite number of things that are being provided to you by God simply because you were willing to go with God in faith.
I know personally that God provides whenever I need and whenever I stretch myself for His work. I am certain He will do it for you to. This Christmas, remember God provides. Just as He provided Jesus Christ to atone for our sins, God provides us with the way and means to walk with Him in faith.
