I’ve been watching a lot of workout videos on YouTube lately to help me hone my form and increase my strength and to help me vary the types of exercises I do at the gym. But no matter how many videos I watch, without actually building up to do the exercises that are on the videos, my strength doesn’t actually increase nor does my body bulge with huge muscles like the Rock. I’m pretty sure the same is true for you.
But when it comes to things of faith, strength doesn’t come by doing, it comes by realizing you need it and then relying on God to provide that strength for you.
He gives power to the faint and to him who has no might He increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 29-31 ESV)
If you’re feeling like you’re about to pass out from all the stress in your life and the ever increasing number of tasks and obligations weighing on your shoulders, then stop for a moment and wait for God. That means, stop trying, stop worrying, stop stressing; just drop everything for half an hour, for an hour, for two hours, and wait on God. That’s the secret of strength — to wait on God.
The modern day translation of the word “wait” would be to find yourself worshipping God, praying to God, reading the Word of God. There is an incredible power that rushes through you when you take a moment to give your undivided attention to God. I guarantee that when you do, you will not be disappointed by your new strength. In fact, you will be surprised by how much strength you were given.
