But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:12-13 ESV)

If you’re a Christian, there is one thing you can brag about: your status as an heir of God. That’s the only thing you can brag about– you are a child of God because God willed it. You did nothing to earn it, you were given the status. What an amazing gift from the ruler of the universe!

Now, if you were an heir to throne of England, no matter how many seats you were away from the actual throne, you’d be talking about it. You’d talk to everybody about it– people you know well, people you don’t know at all, people you hate, etc. So why don’t we talk about having the status of being a child of God? It is, after all, a better throne.

Three things about being an heir of God that make evangelism a priority in our daily lives and how marketing our status as a child of God makes it easy for people you interact with:

  1. If you’re a child of God, then we must share our gift of salvation because that’s what Jesus commands us to do.
  2. When people buy things or buy into ideas, they do so because of the status those things or ideas bring to the individual. Ask anybody who is in luxury sales.
  3. People trust status. As a result of your status as an heir to the throne of God through the blood of Jesus Christ, you have an opportunity to live out that status and to do it boldly. People respect and honor that, but moreover, they trust what you are saying to be true, because your status on the inside track.
