Compromising our God for some security makes our lives wither uncontrollably. Meanwhile, all the other people live however they wish, picking and choosing their gods. But we live honoring God, and were loyal to our God forever and ever. (Micah 4:5) Another translation of this verse says: “For all people walk in the name of their own gods…” The gist of this verse is simply, your life, the way you live and what you do with it, represents whom or what you serve or consider of utmost value. Having said that, I want you to consider the small things in your life, the everyday things that you do– are those a good representation of the God whom saved you from the sin and alienation you wanted to leave behind when you chose Jesus as your savior? I know what you’re thinking: it’s impossible to live so morally and righteously in the 21st century. I mean, Jesus only lived 21 centuries ago and he didn’t have to do it with the internet or cable tv. But now, just now, it’s impossible to wake up without an unrighteous thought already plaguing our minds. To be Christian and live righteously today would require us to give up so much. So maybe you find this task impossible. But that’s no reason for us to be “panicked like a woman in labor. Well, go aheadtwist and scream, Daughter Jerusalem. You are like a woman in childbirth” (v9). When we work towards living loyal to God and honoring Him with our actions, and intentions, God will give you new life again. Hell find you and redeem you time and time again. Live for honor.
