Where are we now? Sometimes we’re pushed away from the place God blesses us. That’s okay, life happens that ways.

So Isaac moved away from there and encamped in the Valley of Gerar, where he settled. (Genesis 26:17)

Some vocabulary for you. “Gerar” in Hebrew means temporary lodging. I want you to keep that in mind. To recap the verse we just looked at. Isaac went from wherever he was to settle at a place that was named temporary lodging. This means that this wasn’t the place he was destined to be; however, it was the place he was staying at that moment, temporarily. Some of us are at this place called “Gerar” ourselves. We know it’s not where we came from. Likewise, we know it’s not where we’re destined to be. It just happens that we’re here now. We know it’s not permanent. The shortcomings or decisions or life events that caused us to be here in this place, if its not where you know God wants you to be, then its not your permanent dwelling. It’s temporary lodging. Just because it’s temporary, it doesn’t mean God’s blessings aren’t here in this place. It just means we need to find the blessings where we are now. If you’re busy complaining about being where you are, you need to stop. Instead, you need to look for God’s blessings where you are camping out.
