Your small beginnings do not determine your future destiny. Just because you start small, it doesn’t mean you will finish small. It’s often our error to believe that small beginnings have small endings, but it’s not true given the right mindset and circumstances.

And though your beginning was small, your latter days will be very great. (Job 8:7 ESV)

When this passage is boiled down, Job’s friend Bildad urges us to seek God, plead for mercy, be upright and righteous. He says that in the turmoil of having lost everything, God picks up the pieces and makes something of the remains. You see, both Job and Bildad were under the impression that Job had unknowingly sinned, and therefore was being punished with the loss of his kids, possessions, and his health. Although the two men didn’t understand the situation, Bildad’s utterances were earnest and true: seek God in your small places and watch what He does with it. God does some incredible things when you seek Him. He changes your small beginnings and maximizes your destiny to fit His glory. Do you realize that our Savior, Jesus, died as a mocked, homeless man, criminalized for transforming lives and hearts? He healed the sick, raised the dead and fed the multitudes. He did it all in the physical form of man, so we could see what it looks like to follow God’s will perfectly.

Jesus started with just twelve disciples, and hailed from a small country village; yet, he overturned society and religion. That’s a small beginning maximized by God. Jesus is the conduit to salvation for all who choose to believe. Jesus tells us that trusting in God is like watching a mustard seed grow. Our faith, as small as a 0.039-inch mustard seed, seems trivial. But when that negligible seed grows to be exponentially bigger than expected, we must realize that small beginnings mean nothing. As small as we (and our faith) feel, we need to trust in God and watch for exponential, mathematically impossible, growth. If your small situation looks to only predict small outcomes, think again. God works in the small things to manifest His glory. Your destiny is hinged on seeking God.
