The answer is, “no.” Unfortunately, our limited view of things prevents us from believing beyond the scope and capability of ourselves, and subsequently we apply those limits to our awesome God. I mean, just how many times have you doubted hard and fast only to realize that God did better than you expected? How many moments were you seemingly left to dry by God, and then found respite and rest by the provision of God? However, don’t feel bad thinking it’s just you, because it’s not. This is exactly what happened to Abraham and Sarah. If Abraham and Sarah, who are the parents of our faith doubted God, then surely the rest of us will falter as well. “Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, about this time next year, and Sarah shall have a son. (Genesis 18:14) When the angel told Abraham at a ripe age of 100 years old that he would finally have a child, Sarah scoffed. She laughed and God heard. The Bible says that she laughed in the tent while eavesdropping. She was beyond child birthing age and she was physically too old to have a child. Yet, we all know that she had a child! There is nothing too hard for God. Just think about how He had raised Jesus from the dead– that impossibility happened. That’s why we celebrate every Sunday. God didn’t raise Jesus from a coma, He raised Jesus from the dead. If God can do that hard thing, then nothing else is too hard. Your cash flow problem– it’s not too hard for God. Your relationship problem– it’s not too hard for God. Your school problem– it’s not too hard for God. Your jobless problem– it’s not too hard for God. The next time you’re thinking the problem is too hard for you to ask God, just remember that our faith was birthed out of a problem that seemed too hard for God. That is the precedent. That is the norm. There’s nothing too hard for the Lord, so why don’t you try asking Him for the impossible.
