Are you struggling with trustworthiness? Have you ever wondered why you’re not moving toward greater and more responsibility? You have all these small things, and that’s it. It seems like that’s all you have. Maybe you need to take steps to guard your mind, grow in faith, and partake in God’s promises, everyday.

During the time he was in Jerusalem, those days of the Passover Feast, many people noticed the signs he was displaying and, seeing they pointed straight to God, entrusted their lives to him. But Jesus didn’t entrust his life to them. He knew them inside and out, knew how untrustworthy they were. He didn’t need any help in seeing right through them. (John 2:23-25 MSG)

This is an odd piece of detail in the narrative John is telling. But it is important for all of us to recognize the lesson all of us need to be reminded of: believing God can be trusted doesn’t mean we can be trusted. We need to build our trustworthiness. We’re not trustworthy. Plain and simple. We don’t have more responsibilities because we’re not ready for them. We’re not where we know we should be because we can’t be trusted with it.

Sure, you are a son or daughter of God, but are you a trustworthy one? I mean, just look at your actions, are they reflective of being a trustworthy individual? You know yourself that if you had to entrust somebody with something, it probably wouldn’t be you. God’s already given us a lot to be faithful for, He’s already entrusted us with tremendous responsibilities. We need to be responsible for them. This is not the parable of the talents, but it is real life– Jesus sees right through our intentions. Are we being trustworthy or are we just feigning it? Will you choose today to be a trustworthy son or daughter of God? We are loved, forgiven, and redeemed with God’s power and exceedingly great and precious promise, let’s build our trustworthiness.
