Everybody has “people.” I’m not talking about people who represent us like Hollywood. I’m talking about “people”, the individuals who we hate admitting to knowing. If somebody were to ask us who we were talking to or who we were with, we wouldn’t even give them a first name, it would just be “people” or a “person”. I know that sounds shady, but those “people” exist in our lives.  Whether the “people” are family members we can’t seem to shake or friends we grew up with that drop in just in time for you to pick up the pieces, there are people in our lives that have been strategically placed for us to chase after. We all have people in our lives.

Go after those headed the wrong way. Be tender with sinners, but not soft on sin. The sin itself stinks to high heaven. (Jude 1:23 MSG, my own emphasis added)

I know you may think that those are the very people that seemingly keep you from achieving your greatest dreams, but what if I told you that the time you spend chasing after them may be the fulfillment of your greatest unknown dreams. We cannot let our “people” go to live by their own self-destructive devices. For the overzealous, I’m not talking about telling your younger siblings to choose a different significant other or to choose a different career or major. I’m talking about engaging people in their brokenness, abuse (drugs, relational, and whatever else you can think of), depression, criminal behavior, etc., and bringing them to know your relationship in Jesus and encouraging them to do the same. Chasing after people is not simply the “Come to Jesus” talk, but inviting people to know you and encouraging people to walk with you toward a deeper relationship with Jesus, our Savior. Which “people” do we need to chase?
