Sometimes we just need to cry out to God louder and much unabashed than societally accepted.
The crowd rebuked them, telling them to be silent, but they cried out all the more, “Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!” (Matthew 20:31 ESV)
This is not a joke, it’s a true story from the Bible. There were two blind men sitting on the side of a road and they heard Jesus was passing by. Not know exactly where he was coming from or going to, they decided they to yell, asking Jesus to heal them.
If it were you or me, we would have given up in dispair if we were hushed or unable to immediately get Jesus’ attention. In fact, we would have said something like, “maybe next time…” But what we see today is that attitude is wrong. We should never give up or grow silent. The story here ends with Jesus finally hearing these two blind men and healing them.
The tenacity of the blind men should inspire us. When the world or the norms of life tell us to give up and shut up, we need to cry louder. We need to yell louder. We need to be more persistent in asking for God’s help. If you can’t do anything, then it is your job to get God’s attention and ask for help. It is your job to pray even more. Do not to stop seeking God.
