God calls us to serve Him faithfully and then helps us do so. The following night the Lord stood near Paul and said, Take courage! As you have testified about me in Jerusalem, so you must also testify in Rome. (Acts 23:11) Honestly, I don’t know why these two guys insisted on continuing with their work as evangelists. Every time they opened their mouths about Jesus or did the work of Jesus, they ended up flogged and in jail. If this was me, I think I would have quit! In the midst of their trial, they again proclaimed the gospel and the gospel caused debate in the imperfect theocracy ruling Israel. As a result, Paul had to be escorted out of his own trial. Taking a stand for God means risking your own livelihood for the name of God! When was the last time we took a risk for anything other than our own skin? Better question: why do we live believing that life is only valuable up to the point where our skin ends? God is calling us to go beyond the comforts of our own little worlds to be a living testament of His power. Isn’t it time for us to take a stand for Jesus in whom we believe as our savior?
