Your most important calling in life is to empower others often and emphatically wherever in life you are. That means giving other people the authority to lead and contribute even when we feel like we need to be in control. Doing this changes everything, and truly builds the relationships around us in the way they were intended to function.
Jesus called his twelve disciples together and gave them authority to cast out evil spirits and to heal every kind of disease and illness. (Matthew 10:1)
Jesus shows us what it means to empower others when he gave his twelve, every ordinary disciples “authority to cast out evil spirits and to heal the sick.” If you look at the list of the people in verses 2-4 in this chapter, you find a few fishermen, a tax collector, a zealot, and a handful of other guys that really don’t have much other significance and whose backgrounds aren’t really known. These disciples changed the world because Jesus empowered them to do so.
Jesus empowered you when he died for your sins and was risen from the grave for the glory of God. We need to freely give others the gift of empowerment Jesus gave to us. We need to do all that we can to empower the people around us today.
