Some places you go to and you feel the energy bring you to life. For example, a sporting event. When you go to a sporting event and your home team is winning, there is an energy that gives you life, you want to lift your hands up and jump up and down and get excited. Then there are places where you just feel tired and your energy is zapped from you like chemistry class. Jesus said to them, My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work. ( John 4:34 ESV) I love what Jesus says here. To paraphrase, he is saying that his energy comes from doing what he came to do. The disciples were looking for food to buy in the city because Jesus was resting as he was tired, hot and exhausted just a paragraph ago. Then an opportunity came around for him and he had the energy to go and win back a soul and that fed Him. There are often stories about people who are so driven that they would go days without eating or sleeping, it seems, so that a goal can get accomplished and acheive a dream they had been harboring. We see this often in the biographies of business titans and Olympic athletes. But really we should see this in the lives of Christ followers. We should be feeding off the energy coming from God when we get the opportunity to share the good news. Starting Monday, August 18, we have the opportunity to be film of life with teeming kids to share the gospel with. I bet you are hungry to do the work of God now. Even if you are not participating in VBS, I want you to get hungry for the work that God created you for. You were redeemed by Jesus for the work. I pray and you should pray that it feeds you.
