So he said to me, This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord Almighty. (Zechariah 4:6) Sometimes we are faced with what we could simply deem as impossibilities. You know what I’m talking about. Those situations where you are left too speechless to even fathom the why and the how. That’s exactly what’s going on here. Zechariah has a vision of “a solid gold lampstand with a bowl at the top and seven lamps on it, with seven channels to the lamps” (v2). He continues to say that there are two olive trees standing next to the bowl. I think we forget God in situations where we just can’t explain things, or fathom why; however, it is exactly in times like those that we should look to God. The situation or circumstance that seems to be impossible for you to climb out of or overcome because you are speechless is nothing for God. This is a passage we cannot forget through all the difficult times and all our impossible moments: its not by might, nor by power, but by the Spirit of God. If we would tap into the Spirit of God for just one moment, the inexplicable mysteries and circumstances we would witness would be countless. In fact, we would experience more than we ever dreamed. Perhaps when we stop relying on our own power and might and things within our control, we would find healing, reconciliation, miracles, and renewal by God’s Spirit. There are lampstands and olive trees in your life, remember its by the Spirit of God.
