Do you really want to know how to lived blessed? It’s simple. All you need to do is “meditate on the law of the Lord.”

Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
but his delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law he meditates day and night.
(Psalm 1:1-2 ESV)

Okay, so it’s probably not the easiest thing to do. In fact, it’s much easier said than done but at least the instructions aren’t overly complicated.

The Psalmist actually boils down how we actually meditate day and night on the law of the Lord in this passage and it all comes down to the actions we take on a daily basis. The Psalmist writes we receive blessing when we the things that we do are not aligned with walking with wicked advice; standing in sinners ways; or sitting with the scoffers (the unpleasant). The actions of walking, standing, and sitting represent actions that we can perform and decisions we make on a daily basis.

When we refrain from deciding on aligning ourselves with actions that co-mingle those types of acts we are actually doing so because we’re choosing to think about the law Jesus gave to us — to love God and to love people. It is because we love God and people that we choose not to walk, stand, or sit in ways that make us despised, hated, and unblessed. We are blessed when we meditate, that is to think about, how God calls us to live– loving Him and the people placed beside us. Be blessed by meditating on the law of the Lord.
