But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (James 4:6-7) Another translation of this passage says that God gives His lovers incredible gifts. In other words, God is better than the boyfriend that buys you gifts and food for no reason. With that thought, ask yourself: do you want somebody that showers you with gifts or somebody that you need to chase whom seldomly shows you the love and affection you show and deserve? Allow me to speak more clearly. In our hearts as proven by our actions, we want so desperately to be loved by the world. In fact, we do everything and anything dictated to us by an impersonal despot to get the slightest bit of attention. It’s true. We have compromised, we have gone out of our way to do things we never wanted; and what did it result in? A fleeting feeling of importance? God gives better, if you want it. It costs you nothing because it cost God everything. He chases us and paid it all for us. All you need to do is accept God for God in your life. People, don’t get tripped up by the word “humble.” I know you read the passage and saw the word “humble, and you decided you wanted more to be chased by God. Guess what, you can’t have more than the life of Jesus Christ poured out to death as more proof of God’s love for you. So be “humbled” to have been considered so worthy to receive that grace. Just accept it on the basis of comparison of the world and things of this world wanted much more from you for a whole lot less. The better life is in living within God’s grace. It is filled with blessing, acceptance and care. It’s more than you ever thought possible and greater than we honestly deserve for the little we did to obtain it. Submit to God’s call for your life and love, it’s way better.
