God gave us everything we need to live a life full of godliness. There are no excuses. There are no questions. The only thing that remains is our willingness to live godly. For most of us, the sad truth is that we do not want to be godly, nor do we care to act godly. Hell, we don’t even really barely want to go to heaven to stand before God, so how could we ever imagine being godly on an Earth that is so far removed from God? His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. – 2 Peter 1:3-4 Breaking down this introductory sentence as a pretext of verses 4-7 (which I want you to read later) in 2 Peter 1, tells the reader immediately that the writer believes that God has given us (Christians) everything we need to live a life mimicking Gods goodness for the sake of Gods glory. Meaning that there nobody who can ever use the excuse, “well, God created me as flawed, so I do stupid things like …” So, with this being the truth, do you want to live a life that offers God’s great and precious promises?
