What makes us giddy with great pleasure? Maybe the question is “who makes us giddy with great pleasure?” What or who is it? Is it video games, a spouse, Netflix, a car, a job, a crush, a boss, a shopping spree, a problem to be solved, a vacation? Maybe it’s none of those things and it is God, Himself.

… then you shall take delight in the Lord, and I will make you ride on the heights of the earth; I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken. (Isaiah 58:14 ESV)

We need to read between the lines in this verse here because if you’re not reading between the lines, you’ll miss it completely. Isaiah is talking about a feeling and a mindset of great pleasure and we need to see this in the lens of that feeling and mindset. If our delight is anything but God, then we will always be in a state of wanting. Our perpetual state of mind will be that of boredom and displeasure because there is nothing else on Earth that can satisfy like God can. When we find pleasure in God, on the other hand, then there is no greater feeling of euphoria and no better elation to be experienced. It is truly a “high” that comes from God that does not dissipate.

When we take delight, that is to say, when we are made giddy by God by engaging with God not just for our hard times or our lonely times or our bored times, but all of our times and we keep that it is God who satisfies, then and only then will we feel a giddiness beyond our cumulative life experiences. See how high you can go by finding pleasure in God today.
