When you do what you were born to do, people will notice.
But he went out and began to talk freely about it, and to spread the news, so that Jesus could no longer openly enter a town, but was out in desolate places, and people were coming to him from every quarter. (Mark 1:45 ESV)
To provide some context to this verse: a leper came to Jesus asking to be healed. Jesus healed the man and instructed the healed man not to tell anybody but go and do the right thing by giving thanks to God and showing the priests that he was healed. The man may or may not have done what Jesus told him to do and instead started talking about what Jesus did for him. Jesus couldn’t get into a town or be out in the open because people came out of nowhere seeking him.
Jesus was born to restore sight to the blind, cause the lame to walk, clean the lepers, open the ears of the deaf, raise the dead and provide good news to the poor. He was born to save us and let us know that it wasn’t us who did anything to receive God’s favor, but it was God who gave us favor first. The leper in the story did nothing except not take the words of Jesus to heart by keeping quiet about what Jesus had done for him.
This applies to ministers, business people, entrepreneurs, parents, and those people who feel they are not noticed. When you do what you were born to do, then people will notice, and until then, keep proclaiming the good news and living into the passion God created within you. It doesn’t matter how big your stage is now. Stay on point. Things may not be happening as quickly as you thought, but if you keep moving the way God moves you, people will come.
