There is refuge in truth. Even when the truth hurts, there’s truth we can cling to.

Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. (Proverbs 30:5 ESV)

The writer realized that it doesn’t matter how he sees or understands God. The powerful message in this proverb is this: let us not deny who God is, because He is our source of truth. So when we’re in a rut, take refuge in God’s words and be encouraged. When we’re in trouble and about to take flight, take refuge in God’s presence. God is the refuge we need, to find an undeniable comfort for our lives. That’s why God says He will save all people if they take refuge in Jesus, who is the truth. Once we do, we’ll find refuge from a sin-battered world that alienates the fabric of our souls. Truth really does set us free.
