Believing in God would probably be a whole lot easier if He were to be moody and ever temperamental, sort of like us, on our best days. But God doesn’t change, and its because He doesn’t that we still have hope for redemption.
For I the Lord do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed.” – Malachi 3:6 ESV
The prophet Malachi wrote to a people scattered and turning away from God with passion. The reason they were turning away in droves was simple: believing in God and placing faith in Him was no longer beneficial to the political and economic climate they were finding themselves. People disbelieved because it appeared that despite their best efforts, God was temperamentally changing their circumstances. What they failed to see was that it was actually God’s unchanging nature which allowed them the graces by which they could choose not to follow God. I get it; life is tough and on most good days, it appears that God changes on you. But do not be fooled, believing God changes His perception of you is asinine and incorrect. God is unchanging, His righteousness will always stand righteous. His justice will always be just. His goodness will always be good. If your life is changing as a result of your changing circumstances and because the economy and political climate, put your stake in on the unchanging. Put your stake in God. Place your faith in Jesus’ work for you. That will anchor you and will keep you from being consumed by changes. God is unconsumed by change, find yourself in His unchanging grace.
