I’ve been preaching this truth for a very long time: all of us are called by God for a purpose by His grace, let’s live into it boldly. Even though I’ve been preaching that truth for a very long time, I don’t always heed my own preaching. Sometimes I’m just ashamed, not by the power of God or His faithfulness, but by my own testimony and actions. Perhaps this is also the reason you sometimes fail to live into God’s calling for your life as well.
Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began. (2 Timothy 1:8-9 ESV)
God did not call us because we did the right “works.” God called us because He has a purpose for us. That is why at the right time and right place you and I were able to accept Jesus into our hearts and minds. The reality of the matter is that God foresaw us when He sent Jesus to save us from ourselves. He saved us by His power, His will, and by His grace. So lets not be ashamed about our so-called lifestyle failures. Let’s not be ashamed that our facebook activity, Instagram and Twitter feeds, and even our Pintrest boards do nothing more than point to everything we have done wrong or failed at. God called us to Him and now is the time we start living bolding unashamed about where Jesus is saving us from every single day.
You are appointed by God to be faithful to Him, guard that and don’t be ashamed by it. Let it shine out in your life, at school, at home, at the restaurant, at the mall, wherever you may be.
