If you fully understand your roots you would never fear.
No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord. (Isaiah 54:17 ESV)
The heritage of the servants of the Lord are: no weapon against you shall succeed and no words of judgment against you shall stand un-refuted. Wow! To be clear, these things are for “servants of God.” That is to say those of us whose actions consistently betray our alliances are not in the camp of God’s servants. Moreover, when Jesus was judged, condemned, and crucified on the cross, although innocent for our salvation, it did not end for him death. The weapons created for his destruction glorified God and lifted Jesus up above everything else. It ended with Jesus resurrected and sitting on the right hand of God.
When we breakdown the word, “heritage” into its roots we find two words: “heir” and “-age.” The two words joined together allow us to perceive there is a state of entitlement by being an “heir” of God’s servants. Let us carry this thought to being heirs with Christ in his resurrection.
If we are heirs with Christ in resurrection and no condemnation, judgment, or undue punishment overcame him but rather glorified him, then isn’t that exactly what we should expect as an heir? If that statement is true, then why do we live our lives pathetically in a paralysis of fear when we should be living boldly and confidently as God’s children that shall not be overcome? What is it that you can do today as an heir with a heritage from Christ’s resurrection?
